It was edited by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mr2.rw.fau.de\/en\/professor\/\">Prof. Dr. Gra\u017cyna Baranowska<\/a> and Dr. Milica Kolakovi\u0107-Bojovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The publication examines enforced disappearances as a global human rights phenomenon and addresses current challenges in this field. It discusses the responses of UN human rights mechanisms\u2014treaty bodies and special procedures\u2014to issues of accountability and reparations, the rights of relatives, the role of non-state actors and migration-related aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The anthology includes contributions from experts in academia and practice who work within a wide range of legal systems worldwide. It presents and analyzes regional case studies from Latin America, Africa, Mexico, the Western Balkans and the Asia-Pacific region, thereby illustrating these issues within national and regional contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanrights.fau.eu\/\">FAU CHREN<\/a> members <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanrights.fau.eu\/person\/dr-rainer-huhle\/\">Dr. Rainer Huhle<\/a> (also a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menschenrechte.org\/en\/\">Nuremberg Human Rights Center (NMRZ)<\/a>) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanrights.fau.eu\/person\/dr-lene-guercke\/\">Dr. Lene Guercke<\/a> (Change! Fellow and head of a research group at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pol.phil.fau.eu\/institute\/chair-of-human-rights-politics\/\">Chair of Human Rights Policy<\/a>) also contributed as authors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 10th February 2026, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hertie-school.org\/en\/events\/event-detail\/event\/book-presentation-enforced-disappearances-on-universal-responses-to-a-worldwide-phenomenon\">Hertie School Centre for Fundamental Rights<\/a> hosted a public book presentation, with Gra\u017cyna Baranowska and Lene Guercke also participating and adding remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Furthermore, on 25th February, another presentation of the anthology took place, hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/law.utexas.edu\/faculty\/publications\/2026-presentation-of-the-new-book-enforced-disappearances-on-universal-responses-to-a-worldwide\/\">TexasLaw Latin America Initiative in cooperation with the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILAS) and the Audre Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>A presentation of the work is planned in Erlangen on 22nd June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In August 2025, the new anthology &#8220;Enforced Disappearances: On Universal Responses to a Worldwide Phenomenon&#8221; (Cambridge University Press, 2025) was published.
