In a “Faktenfuchs” report on BR24, false claims regarding German border policy after the federal election are addressed. Some had asserted that Germany opened its borders following the election. Prof. Dr Grażyna Baranowska, however, clarifies that nothing has changed at Germany’s external borders, either legally or in practice. The border controls that were already in place before the election have continued and do not constitute a complete border closure.
