On the occasion of Human Rights Day on 10 December 2024, the Chairs of Baranowska, Krajewski and Pils organised an activity as part of the Human Rights Law lecture to highlight the significance of this day. The aim was to raise awareness of human rights among FAU students — including those beyond the legal faculty — and to underscore their continued relevance.
Under the guidance of Isabel Kienzle, Jasmin Mooser and Emma Sundt, students in the course created various colourful posters illustrating the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In addition, a banner featuring this year’s motto, “Our rights, our future, right now,” was produced. With these posters and the banner, participants positioned themselves in and around the Kollegienhaus to attract the attention of passers-by and fellow students.
Afterwards, the students invited visitors to enjoy hot drinks and biscuits at a stand in front of the Kollegienhaus. Over tea and coffee, numerous conversations emerged on topics such as human rights violations and the significance of individual articles of the Declaration. The activity later continued at the Juridicum, where the hot-drinks and information stand was set up once again.
As part of the event, Nathalie Schneider and Paula Maag conducted interviews with students, carried out in collaboration with the Centre for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg (CHREN). These interviews are available on CHREN’s Instagram page.
